Redemption at Oceana Dunes

Although, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, we’ve not had the best photo conditions, we did have a really good morning at the Dunes in Oceana.

Still cleaning sand out of my vest pockets.

Those who have gone out shooting with me know that I wear a fishing vest to carry my gear. I should have taken it off this morning before I laid down prone in the sand.

Let’s talk about the Snowy Plover

Our first stop is the sand dunes outside of the little agg town of Guadalupe, and I’d tell you the name if I can remember [Ok, it is the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes and the Oso Flaco Lake Natural Area]. Anyway, it would have been really beautiful if we were not buffeted by severe winds and the fact that the dunes were fenced off because it is the nesting season for the protected Snowey Plover. So we can now say that we didn’t shoot the dunes because of those “darn” (word substitution) birds.
